Vancouver is the Cutting Edge of the Pacific

Vancouver is home to the cutting edge. If you’re the kind of person who knows the best when they see it, however new it is, then this is the kind of town you want to explore. Use these upcoming concerts as your excuse to make it to Van city.

CHROMEO

This Montreal duo has been making booties shake on the dance floor for over a decade now, and are maybe best known for their hit single “Night by Night” from the album Business Casual. Combining cool synth with slinky guitar, Chromeo’s music has been compared to Hall & Oates but their approach brings a sexy French “je ne sais quoi” to the crafting of grooves. This is music for locking eyes across the dance floor and dancing in a frenzy.

They’re playing the Malking Bowl in Stanley Park on Friday, June 7. Come feel cool in the open air.

ANDERSON .PAAK & THE FREE NATIONALS

When Anderson .Paak released his seminal album Malibu in 2016, he changed the game. Seemingly out of nowhere this smooth talking, singing and playing hipster managed to effortlessly combine the best of old school soul with new school hip hop, resulting in a sound that was refreshing and deeply groove-able. Hits like “Come Down” punctuated an album that was an instant heavyweight contender, and .Paak has been at the top every since.

Touring the on the release of his follow-up album Oxnard, .Paak is here to showcase why he deserves the crown. With young hotshot Earl Sweatshirt and bass virtuoso Thundercat opening for him, his show at the PNE Amphitheatre on June 19 demands your full attention.
