The Best Hikes in Vancouver

LIGHTHOUSE PARK

Located in West Vancouver, Lighthouse Park encompasses an old-growth forest. This means it is made up of some of the largest trees remaining on the North Shore, some of which date back over 300 years. There are plenty of trails within the park, and so a minimum of two hours is recommended here. Many of the trails will lead you to Point Atkinson, where a lighthouse dating back to 1912 sits. From this point, there are also impressive views of Stanley Park, downtown Vancouver, and the Salish Sea.

CYPRESS FALLS

Cypress Falls is a hidden gem for hikers. One of the city’s lesser known spots, this stunning park in West Vancouver is accessible year round and is home to two waterfalls. The lower falls are just 15 minutes by foot from the parking lot (making this an ideal hike with kids), while the upper falls are a bit further away but well worth the hike. 

TWIN FALLS

Lastly, don’t miss out on hiking North Vancouver’s Twin Falls. This loop trail takes hikers over the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, through the forest, and finally, over top of the Twin Falls. Much of the forest you’ll be walking through features Western Red Cedars and Douglas Firs that are over 100 years old.
